This changelog is the comprehensive history of Parsec's product changes. Some of the features listed have been deprecated or were changed in later updates. We thought, rather than changing old posts, it would be fun for everyone to see the whole history of the product's development. For a perspective on Parsec's product and our product philosophy, we wrote a blog post in December 2017 about the early history of the Parsec Game Streaming software.

150-94-0 will roll out over the next 30 days

NEW

  • [Windows/macOS host] Option to disable connection daisy chaining. Prevents double/multi-hop scenarios, by disabling the ability to connect to another host from within a Parsec session. By default, only account owners can establish double/multi-hop sessions.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • [macOS] macOS users who are using WARP or the free version now have access to an updated user interface.
  • [Linux] Hardware support for FFMPEG 4-6.
  • [Windows/macOS client] Microphone controls are now available in the overlay when Virtual Microphone is enabled on the Windows host.
  • [[Windows/macOS client] Swap Command and Control setting is enabled by default when connecting from Mac to PC or vice-versa.
  • [Windows host] Virtual Monitor Fallback is enabled by default when Virtual Display Driver is installed and no physical monitors are found.
  • [Windows host] Virtual Microphone feature is enabled by default on hosts with compatible Virtual USB Driver.

  • [macOS client] Accessibility permissions are now required when installing Parsec on macOS. Subsequently, HID mode setting was removed as it’s now redundant.
  • Parsec’s device identifier token (devid.bin) has moved to a persistent location so that it is not reset or cleaned up when Parsec is reinstalled. This token is used to identify different computers that a user has logged into uniquely.

BUGFIXES

  • [Windows host] Privacy mode will no longer time out and show an error if a Windows logon takes more than 30 seconds.
  • [Windows client] Parsec will automatically ignore faulting hardware decoders that would previously cause the app to enter a crash loop.
  • [Windows host] Fixed a bug where Parsec would spam the log file when no audio device is found.
  • [macOS client] Fixed an issue where the default microphone selection would not be updated when the microphone was removed.
  • [macOS client] Fixed an issue where multi-channel microphones were not displayed in the microphone passthrough selection list.
  • [macOS host] macOS Sonoma image quality issues fixed.
